NEW!One of the most remarkable features in the history of Pembrokeshire is the settlement of a numerous colony of Flemings among its native population. Read "The Flemings in Pembrokeshire" by T.R. Dawes, the then County School's erudite first Headteacher. He delivered this lecture in Pembroke Dock and it was later reprinted by the Western Mail in 1902 and sold for sixpence! CLICK HERE to read in the HISTORYsection.
NEW!CLICK HERE to read John Trice's 'What My Schooldays Meant to Me' just added to the MEMORIES section. John had also written a piece previously on the Annual Prize Day~Headmaster's Reports CLICK HERE to read it in the HISTORY section. Both contributions really shine a light on the school's role in forming the character of its pupils!
NEW! The Great War Roll of Honour board has now been photographed at Pembroke School and uploaded to the History section along with commentary by Roger MacCallum who took the photograph and author/broadcaster Phil Carradice (CLICK HERE for his BBC Wales History Blog). We hope to add the WWII board soon. We have made the image very large so all names can be read. CLICK HERE to read the Great War Roll of Honour piece in the HISTORY section.
NEW! In the Spring of 2011, ITV Wales produced a Documentary about the bombing of various towns in Wales during the early 1940’s. One of the events featured in the programme was the ‘Bombing of the Oil Tanks’ at Llanreath, Pembroke Dock. We put a link to the programme on this website and also sent out e-mails containing information about how to access it on-line for the following few weeks. Many people wrote to us with their own memories of those days. You can CLICK HERE to read all of the instalments in the MEMORIES section. We'd love to add your war-stories to this section, so get in touch!
