Melanie Phillips is no stranger to The Penvro website team and over the last few months has given us lots of help with photos and information for which we are very appreciative.

So when her latest book, "Just Another Brick" landed on our desk, we couldn't wait to get in between the covers-- and what fun!

"Just Another Brick" is a refreshingly irreverent romp through a long and colourful teaching career that started in 1971. More hilarity abounds with the adventure of teaching along side several of her own former teachers at the massive Pembroke Comprehensive in the 1980's.

But you need not have been a teacher or attended PDGS/PGS to appreciate the warmth and wit that shine through. Forget about bogus MP expenses and the economy. Tuck up of an evening with a nice cuppa or break open a bottle and prepare to be thoroughly entertained. Indeed, you will be chuckling in your sleep.

Melanie writes: This writing lark came about after I had had a stroke in 2002. The stroke was very dramatic and in front of 30 terrified 8 year olds. Apparently HRT and an over active thyroid caused the stroke after which I had two seizures, shingles, and a whole host of health problems. I felt the only way was up, so I decided to volunteer for the Stroke Association, in Pembroke Dock.

They had no money so I thought I would try my hand at writing a little book and give them all the profits. "Tudor the Cat" made 2000 quid! Then came the Guntower where I learned all about Sunderlands. I gave them some of the proceeds from "Why Aye Boy". The cricket club will be next with "A Peep Inside A Cricketer's Box" but "Just Another Brick" is for me.

When people say that illness makes you a better person I used to laugh, but do you know that it is true!
