Sandra Briskham (Stevens) recently contacted The Penvro with a generous offer to lend us her family's huge collection of Penvros and class photos for scanning which was happily accepted. She also enlisted her sisters' help in identifying many of the faces that had been without a name on the class photos that are up on the site. Her sisters are Susan (1958-1965), Angela (1963-1970) and Karen (1964-1971)

However, her more interesting offer was of hands-on practical help so that the website team could contact hundreds of past pupils through the Friends Reunited site. It was no easy task as each person has to be contacted individually. Many names were duplicated as FR has PDGS/PGS listed as several different schools - very confusing. Sandra patiently created a list of close to 500 unique names to avoid sending duplicate messages which might have put off prospective visitors to the site. It was a hard job well done and we are very grateful.

Sandra writes: I was fascinated to read The Penvro website recently - details of which had been forwarded to me by my sister (Susan - nee Stevens) who is married to Ken Deveson.

I am Sandra (Stevens) No 313 on the long photo very thin and gawky!! I arrived at Pembroke Dock Grammar School in 1954 and left in 1960) and live in Talybont-on-Usk near Brecon. This is the village where Roland Mathias was born and bred but sadly his family home Ffynnon Fawr was submerged in the 1930's to create Talybont Reservoir. We have a local village magazine and quite recently one of the residents suggested that we erect a local memorial for him but nothing is happening at the moment - lack of funds I suspect!

I have quite a few Penvro magazines - some with photo inserts (Spring 57, Spring 58, Spring 59, and Autumn 59). I also have copies of Summer 60, Summer 62, Spring 68 and Summer 70 - copies acquired/passed to me after I left but these do not have photos. I have tried scanning the photos but the reproduction is not particularly good.

I also have a staff photo July 1958 (via Mrs Devereux), a class photo, a hockey team with Mrs Ebsworth & Mr Mathias, and a netball team with Mrs Ebsworth and Mr Roberts.

Best wishes to all those who have worked particularly hard on getting the site up and running and good luck
